Team Ashbourne were on top form for the Cleethorpes Colour run on Sunday 6 September. The team of 9 completed the 5 kilometre course in just under 35 minutes, which was an impressive feat considering the mixed ability group of runners. The team that stepped up for the challenge was Amanda Penistone, Rob Walton, Nicole Weston, Aaron Markham, John Greenley, Amy Brown, Julie Spence, Will Rayson and Demi Plaskitt-Stanley. Hats off to you all, guys!
The Ashbourne staff are always getting involved with good causes; here’s a look back on some of the other events they’ve thrown themselves wholeheartedly into.
No Make-up Selfies
The craze sweeping social media in early 2014 – “no make-up selfies” – photos of girls posing completely bare-faced in aid of Cancer Research UK- captured the imagination of staff at the Ashbourne Hotel. On Sunday 23rd March 2014, staff decided that if £200 was raised across both The Ashbourne and sister hotel, The Brackenborough during Sunday lunch service, then not only would the girls go make up-free, but all of the male staff would also put on make up.
Once a total sum of £200 was achieved through generous donations from amused customers, the staff – including hotel owner Ashley Lidgard – were duty bound to honour their part of the bargain.
Ashley said “I’m so proud of my entire team for agreeing to do this. Cancer Research UK is such a worthy cause, with the illness having unfortunately touched most of our lives directly or indirectly, so we were more than happy to be able to help in some way while it’s high in people’s minds ”.
And here are the terrifying results….
It’s a Knockout, Cleethorpes, July 2013
Another fun afternoon raising funds for the local branch of the NSPCC. Sadly, the Ashbourne didn’t win, but hey, it’s all about the charity cash raised!
…And all of this is before we event get started on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It’s fair to say we enjoy getting involved!
Stay tuned, as there’s bound to be another event or charity contest happening soon, and you can bet that the Ashbourne will be there as ever, waving the flag for Oak Ridge Hotels!
